The Story

My stylist and I had a boudoir shoot booked with a client and she ended up not showing up. While we waited for our client we were talking about a new make up pallet my stylist had picked up. It had beautiful metallic tones. We decided that we had to do a fine art piece with the metallic inspiration. After we left the studio I went to our local goodwill and found a grungy old candle holder for $5! Inspiration struck and I picked it up. I took it home and using tin snips and lots of hot glue, I created the headdress. I also had some green and gold fabric lying around the studio which we ended up clamping around our model. The model is a good friend and I have always loved the way she photographs. It took some time for her to get the courage to do the shoot. So when she said yes, we were all pretty excited! The photo itself is taken in front of black seamless paper with a large window camera left. The result of a no show ended in an amazingly inspiring photo session. There are lots more of my art photos on my Facebook page. (Maaike Roosendaal - Fine Art Photography) All of the art projects are done on very low budgets. Usually between $5 and $30. We are so thankful for everyone who took the time to vote for this image. It means the world to us. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! <3
